| INTRODUCTION TO OIL PAINTING |

COURSE OUTLINE: This course is for you if you wish to learn oil painting. If you have attempted oil painting on your own or have taken some basic instruction elsewhere the course will help take the mystery out of oil painting techniques. You do not have to know how to draw to take this course. The emphasis is on using oil painting materials effectively. The course starts with the basics and includes demonstrations, videos, handouts, art reviews and lots of hands-on practice.
You will work on a number of projects during the course. These projects will consist of a completed painting 16"x20" and a number of oil "studies". Participants learn how to mix colours, use a colour wheel, the basics of sketching, use of photo references, various brush techniques, composition, perspective and much more. Each session of 3 hours includes a short break and a brief clean-up and debriefing at the end of the session.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
A complete list of required materials will be part of a hand-out on the first class. Each participant is required to purchase their own materials. A list of a number of different ART material suppliers will be provided. Click on the link below to see what you will need to take this course.

| INTERMEDIATE OIL PAINTING |

COURSE OUTLINE: This course is for those that have had some success with oil painting either through self-teaching or from an art class experience. You will received a review of basic oil painting techniques. The course starts with the basics and includes demonstrations, videos, handouts, art reviews and lots of hands-on practice.
Each student will complete 2 projects during the course - a landscape and a still-life.
Participants learn how to mix colours, use a colour wheel, the basics of sketching, use of photo references, various brush techniques, composition, perspective and much more.

| OIL PAINTING FOR EXPERIENCED PAINTERS |
Course: Approximately 30 hours (10 - 3 hour classes)

COURSE OUTLINE: This course is for those that have been painting for some time. It is for those that paint in either Oils or Acrylics. This course focuses on aesthetic and technical issues of painting as they relate to the various painting projects of each student. Students create paintings of their own design, learning to problem-solve color, composition, and content. Class discussions and demonstrations take place in a lively open studio environment. Some previous painting experience is required.
You will received a review of fundamental painting techniques. The course includes demonstrations, videos, handouts, art reviews and lots of hands-on practice. Participants learn how to mix colours, use a colour wheel, the basics of sketching, use of photo references, various brush techniques, composition, perspective, some mixed media techniques, and much more.
