Acrylic and Oil Painting Lessons
Introduction Class
Course time: Tuesday Evening from 7-10pm (Starting Sept. 22nd)
Cost: $12 for each 3 hour session. This course is approximately 30 hours in duration
Description
This course is for anyone that wants to learn how to paint. It is especially designed for beginners. No experience required, just a desire to learn and have a great time. You will benefit from videos and slides of various artist's work, lectures, demonstrations and discussions, studio work, and individual attention. Some details of the lessons may change as a result of circumstances such as weather, cancellations, and student progress and interests.

- selection of materials
- mixing colours
- drawing and sketching
- brush techniques
- understanding the effects of light and shadow
- perspective
- composition.
Each student will complete one or more pieces of art by the end of the course. There will be a group critique at the end of each class designed to help each student find solutions to areas of difficulty.
Instructor: Terry Matthews
Location: The lessons are given in the evenings at our studio in Whitney, New Brunswick approximately 10 km from the city of Miramichi on highway 425. Each session of 3 hours - includes a short break and a brief clean-up and briefing at the end of the session.
You will learn how to attain a clean, painterly approach to your artwork. We will start with methods for good drawing, effective brushwork, and a simple approach to color mixing. Students will spend time working on a piece in class while the instructor answers questions and critiques.
