Many artist are now experimenting with various software applications. There are many available and of course they vary in what they do and how well they do it. Some have a steep learning curve and others, while limited in scope, are very intuitive and require only a brief exposure to master their capabilities. Corel Painter is a powerful and somewhat expensive tool. Photo ArtMaster by fo2Pix is very easy to learn, much cheaper and with more limited capabilities. And finally, Virtual Painter Classic has fewer options for the artist, but does have some interesting art filters such as water colour.
As such Corel Painter is probably more useful to the professional artist while fo2Pix will let almost any artist try this specialty software and have some immediate success and Virtual Painter Classic provide some quick and very interesting effects.
